The basic idea is to remove the cables for HDMI between your TV and the source ( DVD player, PC, whatever ), allowing you to mount your screen on the wall with less cabling to hide or even have the screen up to 100 feet from the source, say, even in another room.
While the technology is old news, this is the start of the line the technology to be implemented into consumer products.

Don't expect anything any time too soon, as the companies involved are likely not be displaying demo/prototype items until the start of 2008, which would mean its unlikely we'd see anything in the shops before the middle of 2009 at the earliest. Still, something to keep our eye on, eh?
