How much Ram use is normal for Vista? Basically even sitting at the desktop im seeing 50% of physicall memory usage.

the system has 1gig in it right now, with no open slots.

do you have aero turned on ?

1gig is probably the minimum you would want for vista.

i've seen varying amounts by different people. iirc vista will vary how much it allocates to a task depending on whats available. i have 2gb in my system and usually around 50% usage. The more you have, the more it can use! Also, the ram may be showing as in use because vista has allocated it to itself. It may not actually be 'in use' so to speak.
