I have a Toshiba Laptop here (1gig RAM, dual core, Vista HPrem).
What I would like to ask is that the recovery disk that came with it, is it possible to use software to make the disk into an installation disk?
I'm not sure if this is legal or not, but because I own the licence for the OS on the laptop and intend only to use the disk on the said laptop, then surely it should be.
i don't think it is legal as i believe with the T/C if your OS fails you must get it repaired by the Manufacturer. (so they can make money) but usually the repair CD is usually enough to fix most problems. however your CD key will still be valid if you install from another (OEM) disk i believe.

Okay so to get the key I would need to run some kind of key unlocking software, fair enough.
The thing is I don't have a Vista HPrem install disk, but I do have a Basic one, will that work?
Basic will only install vista basic, and wont work. (im sure Keys dont worth for the other versions of vista.

Ask a friend who has Vista prem if you can borrow their install DVD. Or you could download one off the internet and use your key but thats not recommended cos of viri and other hacks.
