Namco have just confirmed that Beautiful Katamari, originally scheduled to be released on the PS3 and Xbox360, will now instead be released on the Xbox360 and the Wii.

For those that aren't familiar with Katamari, you're missing out. It's one of, if not the, most serene and cute and awesome and fun and generally all over wonderful games you can get. If this turns out for whatever reason to not come out for the Wii, I'll cry.

I've heard great things about the old ones but never played them.
Not even a ps3 port? Possibly because it's not cost effective to do due to the complex programming required?

Am I the only one that thinks this looks stupid? Having said which - I did like Viva Pinata on the 360 - and that was a weenies game :p.
What is this game about anyway? Is it just an RPG like Harvest Moon and Pokemon or something?

it looks like they have swan dived into a packet of pencils......saying that though it looks like a fun game so would suit the wiiiiiiiiiii fine

Since the orignal katmari came out I have always been jealous of the ppl with ps2`s who could play it. I sold my PSP before the versuion came out on taht so this will be my first chance to own it cant wait :D

In my excitement, I neglected to do the decent thing and describe exactly what Katamari is, and why it's good news that it's coming to the Wii.
Now...first off, Katamari doesn't really lend itself well to being described...the basic premise of the game is to roll everything in the world up into a ball.
Yea, I know. But really, it's actually very good.
You can't just roll over things and be done with it, you need to start small, gain weight to your ball of junk and then tackle the larger objects. Still sounds bum, huh? Well, it's not. The Wikipedia entry for the PS2 version (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katamari_Damacy) might shed some light on the matter...
If you have an Xbox360 and you see the demo come up....grab it. You'll not be sorry...and if you hate it, well, no loss, you didn't pay for it, eh!

Sounds...........grand....I'll give it a go if it comes to the 360 marketplace. It does sound like the simple addictive game I would lose months of my life too, so I'll check it out.
I'm glad this is finally coming to a Nintendo console. If you ask me, it's where it should have been from day one.

Erm....we sat and watched the trailer and thought "weeners game also", looks ok for 4-6 yr olds other than that im at a loss to see what the fuss is about
Loco rocco looks like a game for kids but is really in depth and lots of fun.
Heck even Tetris isnt the most adult game out there yet its been prolly the most played game of all time.
Katmari has cartoony graphics but the game play is supposed to be really amazing and there is a lot of strategy involved

I'll vouch for loco roco - looks silly at first but it's one of the best games ever for putting a smile on your face and making you really connect with the little blobs.
let's face it, in so many games you want to *sometimes* just kill your character , just for fun. But the loco roco things are just so endearing you'll do everything just to keep them safe from the EVIL moja moja things.
Games don't all need to be about big guns to be fun. :)

Words can't describe how angry that video makes me...
Why... why would you feel the need to make such a bad game... That would entertain a 4 year old for about 3 minutes...I am not usually one to form a heavily biased opinion - but that game... looks absolutely terrible... and it fills me with such a terrible rage....
...I think I will go and headbutt a kitten...

Also, while sorta off topic, for fans of the "lets not kill everything in sight, but have a jolly good laugh playing in a brightly coloured Duplo style world" genre, have you seen De Blob (http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=401276) ( which incidentally, while I was looking for the link to the site, found that it is also heading to the Wii (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3161315) )! My missus loves this De Blob game.

Games like katamari and de blob were just what the wii needed. If they could get some fun motion control linked with these games they would be onto a winner.

Haha... perhaps - I can imagine on the Wii this would be kinda cool, but I can't really see it taking off on the 360 personally. Think it should be a Wii only game.
But... what ever floats your boat. If you like it... go and buy it - just keep your good clean fun to yourself....

Your pc prolly also costs 5 times as much as the wii.
The wii is all about having fun and playing games.
I love my PC espcially as i`m back into wow again but I love my wii too.
