View Full Version : Nvidia unveil Tesla "High-Performance" chips

Nvidia have announced that along side their Gaming GPUs and CAD focused Quatro range, they will now produce "Deskside Supercomputer" called Tesla that can "deliver up to 8 teraflops of processing power" via the PCI-E slot. This new Tesla system is intended to enable complex simulations to complete much faster than was previously possible.

Really aimed at workstation users, not gamers. But the trick is, it opens up alsorts of development avenues for programmers and should hopefully end up filtering down to run on the hardware you also use to play games with.

Give it a few years and Photoshop will be using your GFX card to batch process 3000 20MPixel images in 0.5s :p

If you read the article, the "sounds pricey" is actually stated wuth figures for the GPU, Deskside and Server
