Hey guys.

Recently built a new system and installed Vista 32 bit. Im having serious problems with certain things.

Mainly, it will never shut down, restart or log off. will switch user fine.

MSN messenger will not load, any webcam i try and use will just freeze the program im using. If i put the computer into sleep i usually just get a bluescreen on wakeup if it manages it at all.

The general operation of the system is pretty much sound, as far as i can see, except whenever i open an explorer window/my computer the window always freezes for a bout 5 seconds then continues as normal.

My specs are AMD athlon FX 60, 2 gb ram, 2 x SATA hard drives and a Geforce FX 7950 GX2, all running off an ASUS A8n32 SLi Deluxe.

I thought it may be a compatibility issue with some of the components but i dont really know where to start on this one.

Im also currently trying to download the bios tool from the ASUS website but their site is so slow its hardly worth the hassle, apart from the fact it very rarely manages to finish downloading, and instead fails half way through.

Also my understanding of SATA was that they were a lot quicker than IDE drives, but my transfer rate is something pathetic like 38 MB/s...is that right?

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Jameen

Have you checked you have Vista drivers installed? this sounds liek a Hardware problem. i would start with mobo. video card, and then the other components.

Sata is not a huge leap compared to IDE..... unless you have them in a array.

Just had a response from the guy:

"Sorry, you're right, that was on Apr 11 19:11:06 (GMT+2), the day before your message. I must have looked at the wrong log file..."

So its been cleared up.

Just edit the post yourself, and mention that you replied in the wrong thread by mistake.

The default action of the Vista Shutdown button, is to put your PC into standby mode.
if you want the shutdown button to shutdown your PC, you have to change its properties.
