A recent story that closes open comments in a few days refers to the future of the currently used Analogue signals, currently being used by terrestrial television - but will be freed up once all digital tv is introduced around 2012.
Apparently Ofcom are leaning toward selling these radio signal off to private companies (potentially mobile phone compaies) for government profit, as opposed to using them for opportunity, such as free hd-tv signals.
The subject itself can be found here - http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/ddr/
...with an interesting summary here http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/ddr/ddr_plainenglish.pdf
Quite an interesting subject, and could be viewed once again as the UK getting screwed over, tbh.
