Okay so i had the idea of putting an 8" touchscreen in another room to my HTPC to use it as kind of a remote but also be able to view stuff on it. I'd have a dual output g-card and connect 1 to my main large screen for movies and TV and the other to the touchscreen located in a seperate room. Now the only problem i can see with this is how to connect the Touchscreen to the HTPC, it requires both a VGA Cable and USB cable. Now i've found some 50m VGA cables so taht shouldnt be a problem, but the USB cables are a bit tougher. The only solution i can come up with for that is to buy a USB over Cat5 adapter but these are a bit expensive for what they are. I wonder if anyone can come up with a simple cheap solution for connecting the touchscreen to the HTPC.

I'd probably start my system looking like this:

HTPC --> 32" LCD
HTPC --> Hifi AMP --> Multiple speakers in 2 different rooms
HTPC --> 8" LCD Touchscreen in a seperate room

--> represents a connection.

That looks pretty dinky... $129.99.. so about 65 quids...Not bad. I like the idea of the ease of setting up.

depending on the software used a wifi pda could be used via an add on program or html based access page.

Slimserver and several others have this function
