stupid question

Having never had to upgrade an operating system before i suddenly thought of this probably stupid question... but am still curious, as will be getting my free upgrade to Vista Business by the end of the month...

Do i have to install all my software again? ie. games, messenger programs etc.

I can't imagine i'd have to, but it's a silly little question that is at the back of my mind...

Since you're primarily updating just the OS itself... it shouldn't affect any other files/programs/games ;)

muchas gracias. I didn't think i'd need to, but i suddenly imagined everything getting wiped... which I didn't fancy too much.

Will probably wait a while before updgrading until all the bugs are sorted.

But you'll be backing up all your 'essentials', before installing/upgrading to Vista anyway... right :D

There's still a distinct lack of Vista drivers for quite a lot of hardware out there.
Hell... even Nvidia haven't got theirs 100% yet :eek:

TBH, it would probably be safer and would work smoother to do a complete install from fresh. You don't need an XP disk anymore, just a valid liscence.
