Just as a quick heads up for everyone at uni or another educational establishment with MSDN: AA, Vista Business X86 (32 bit) is on MSDN: AA, ready for download in case you didnt know. I've no idea when it was put up, but its there now waiting for a download. I already took advantage and am using it now :) I think its only computing students who happen to get it, sadly not computing courses classed as engineering.

Already downloaded it myself, just haven't installed it yet since I'm not sure what PC to put it on.

I think this is the "special" european version of Vista Business, with some of the media bits removed :(

I wish they'd given us Ultimate or even the option of Premium, as I'd prefer to use it on my media pc and need the tv abilities. So I'll probably end up buying Premium aswell.

Well its handy for those who happen to have big old HDTV connected up to there computer, like a friend of mine does, quite comical walking in and seeing a 28" HDTV taking up all of his desk :p

Well, I'm on an Engineering degree and I've got a burnt copy sat right in front of me! Bloody computing students think they're so good.. Mumble mumble :p

I've not installed it yet though, and as for it being the Business Edition -- I'm really not going to look a gift-horse in the mouth over something as pointless as Media Centre.

Either way, as I mentioned in another thread; I don't think I'll be keeping it. I shall have a 'Windows' partition, but Ubuntu is going to become my main OS shortly. :)

I only made my comments about engineering due to posts by hexus members at other univerisities claiming they were not allowed access to MSDN: AA, due to studying various computing degrees in engineering.

So Computer Sciene students can get Vista Business free. How long do they have to get it or can they get it whenever they join the course? I'm not going to uni for a while if I go.

Thanks for pointing this out Digit.
It is a shame the Vista on the AA is only the business version, but this should have been expected as Microsoft never released MCE on the AA. For anyone who particulaly wanted the MCE features I presume there will be plenty of cheap copies of the XP version floating about soon enough.

Cosmo_1847, typically Computiing students are granted access to a number of MS 'business' style programs. These are available via the AA and can be downloaded at any time during the course of your studies. There is no time limit in which to download the software but you will find some titles will be replaced as new versions are released.
