So you've all heard of it and some of you may well have seen it. What do you all think of Tom Clancys latest to film conversion (and game for that matter)? This is the film that was dropped last year due to the terrorist attacks but its back.
Bens not a bad actor in this one but I feel hes lacking a certain something. The storys not that bad although my mates g/f looked like she had gone to sleep (tss - woman), helicopter crash is very well done as is the whole main explosion.
Funny thing is, our intelligence agencies recon its us who are under threat from a nuclear attack in London and are so convinced its gonna happen have began build up to putting all the needed resources into place. Atleats most of you guys are up in Scotland.
Big Adam, I notice your in London, in the event of nuclear bomb going off can I have your SFFs? :D
He wont argue with you if he is dead, but i would leave them a good 100 years or so for the radioactivity levels to drop to a safe level before you go and touch them. :D

Not a bad film, but you have to forget about the previous 'Jack Ryan' films/books as it seems that Ryan is no longer married & doesn't have kids (as well as being 20 years younger :D). Watchable, but nothing over spectacular.

If it was (and I have never read a Tom Clancy novel so don't know), then they went about it in a funny way as everything in the film was a lot more modern than the others.

which bits you refering to?
The films are being made in the same order as the books came out but looking ahead there is no way they will make a film of "Debt of Honour" since Japanese industry and some politicos are the bad guys and Japanese companies run most of the Film Studios.
As for Ryan now being un-married its just a consequence of moving from Harrison Ford to Affleck.
The Jack Ryan books are in this order:
The Hunt for Red Oktober Filmed
Red Storm Rising
Patriot Hames Filmed
The Cardinal of the Kremlin
Clear and Present Danger Filmed
The Sum of All Fears Filmed
Without Remorse
Debt of Honour (will never be fimed)
Executive Orders (will never be filmed)
And there is a new one (I forget the title ) and it won't be filmed. It's over 1,000 pages long and involves war between Russia and China with America pitching in on the side of Russia because they joined NATO!

The new book (which is no longer the new one as I saw another in the book shop the other day) is The Bear and the Dragon. It is quite good, sort of less action detail than Red Storm Rising and more political.
You have also missed Rainbow Six from the list which came before The Bear and The Dragon.
Sum of all Fears is a superb book and it is a shame that so much was changed for the film (i.e. Asian terrorists). We can all see the reason behind that one but with the change, the film just doesn't fit together half as well as the book. There is also the rivalry from the NSA (a female in the book who is sleeping with Fowler - the Pres).
Shame they missed out Red Storm Rising as some of the epic battles in the book would have been great to see on the screen.
The other films produced seemed to stick very closely to the books and benefited from that fact.
Now hopefully they will not miss out Without Remorse as it is the story of Clark and how he became a CIA operative.
Oh and the other film they made was called Op Centre with low grade stars but the film is worth a watch and is very like Peacemakers (with George Clooney) but came out before it.
Think it is almost time to re-read Red Storm Rising again after all that :) . Have to finish Eye of the Storm first though (by Peter Ratcliffe - DCM who was in the SAS rather than just pretending so he can sell books).
