View Full Version : SS50 PCI VGA
Has anyone been able to get a pci video card to work in a Shuttle SS50 (or the like) ?
I've got hold of a Geforce 2 MX 400 PCI card but I just can't get it to work. I've followed the post on the Shuttle FAQ (Update bios,Disable onboard video, PCI first - bios options) but it just doesn't seem to work.
Occasionally you can get the PC to post and load windows XP then it goes to a blank screen.
Ideas ? (other than buy a SS51  )

Your first card hasn't disabled. The blank screen once windows is loaded is it switching back to the primary display.
why not ask on the sff forums at:
www.viahardware.com (http://www.viahardware.com)
By going to a blank screen do you mean it shows the windows loading screen and then when it opens windows it goes to a black screen?
If this is the case, it happened to me on my system, this wasnt on a shuttle though.
It was caused by the Refresh rate on the newly installed being incorrect, because the old one was uninstalled incorrectly.

I'm betting its the screen switching to old gfx card. I've seen this before. Just because you disable it in the bios doesn't mean its properally disabled unfortunately.
Remove all display drivers for it or simply disable the device from windows and try again.
If it does turn out to be refresh rate then shame on you! lol

No it's definately not the refresh rate.
It's weird because I got it to boot into Windows XP once after I installed a fresh copy of XP and as soon as windows automatically changed the screen resolution the screen went to a blank display and that was it, even on rebooting the PC neither display would work.
I had to remove the PCI card and reset the bios to get it to post again.
