Just thought I'd share my (eventual) sucess story here...

I ordered an SV24 from Kustom, it arrived, I got very excited :) Then I got it home, and plugged it into the TV. I couldn't persuade it to output colour to my S-Video in port :( Finally decided after reading Shuttle's website that I needed to update my BIOS, as that would let me set the TV output to PAL instead of the default NTSC. After several retries and disk errors I persuaded DOS to boot (This is the same disk and drive that worked perfectly in my other machine not 5 minutes before) Foolishly I then thought that it might be a good idea to flash the BIOS despite the floppy read errors (yes, I know) I think you can guess the rest... I'm almost certain that the floppy controller was dodgy (yes, I checked the cables, tested the drive and disk in my other machine) Anyway, after stunning service from Graeme & co, I had a replacement SV24.

I'm pleased to say that my second BIOS flashing went well, and my shuttle now outputs lovely colour to my TV, and what's more last night I got DVD playing working in Linux. Eventually I'll do some custom interface software (I'm a software engineer by trade), and have myself a natty little HTPC/MP3 Box/Games Console emulator :)

Mungo,

Nice one! :)

My SV24 is still sitting in the corner following my house move but I know one of the things I need to sort out with it is the colour feed from the s-video out.

What version of the bios did you flash to? I assume it was the most recent but if you can confirm that it was an earlier version that resolved your problems then I'll opt for the solution that definitely works! :D

I used the most recent version, shuttle provides a revision history for their BIOSes, so you can see when the fixes you require were introduced: http://www.spacewalker.com/english/readmefv24.htm
The TV fix was in "FV24STVF", but I went for "FV24STVJ", and as they say, it works for me :)

I had exactly the same problem with my SV24 and black and white s-vhs output on the TV.

I'm using the same, most recent bios version (can't remember if it came with that or if I flashed it).

Anyway, it turned out that the SV24 was fine all along. It was the SCART socket on the TV that wasn't wired to handle s-vhs.
I've now got another TV with two Scart sockets, one works with s-vhs and the other doesn't.
