Just thought I'd share my (eventual) sucess story here...
I ordered an SV24 from Kustom, it arrived, I got very excited :) Then I got it home, and plugged it into the TV. I couldn't persuade it to output colour to my S-Video in port :( Finally decided after reading Shuttle's website that I needed to update my BIOS, as that would let me set the TV output to PAL instead of the default NTSC. After several retries and disk errors I persuaded DOS to boot (This is the same disk and drive that worked perfectly in my other machine not 5 minutes before) Foolishly I then thought that it might be a good idea to flash the BIOS despite the floppy read errors (yes, I know) I think you can guess the rest... I'm almost certain that the floppy controller was dodgy (yes, I checked the cables, tested the drive and disk in my other machine) Anyway, after stunning service from Graeme & co, I had a replacement SV24.
I'm pleased to say that my second BIOS flashing went well, and my shuttle now outputs lovely colour to my TV, and what's more last night I got DVD playing working in Linux. Eventually I'll do some custom interface software (I'm a software engineer by trade), and have myself a natty little HTPC/MP3 Box/Games Console emulator :)
