1. Great to see you are now a fellow mod'ator for the SFFs.

2. Please excuse the very lazy abuse of power (and non-willingness to trawl through relatively recent posts) but was it you that was getting hold of the cheap 7" VGA LCD through eBay?

If so, how have you found it? Any chance of a piccie and review?

PJ is was 'p****d off, f****d off bunny as it came through dead! No evidence of damage, its just a manufacturing fault - and guess what the guy won't answer my e-mails.

If a deal seems too good to be true - it probably is (unless its from kustom) - guess what the next FAQ is gonna be based on? EBAY!!! GRRR. Sorry bout that Adam, if I see them come up again ill post you the link but im not risking that ebayer again. On anotehr interesting note some friends of mine are investigating importing a few LCDs. They won't have TV tuners as those items get alot of import tax slapped on, but non tv capable LCDs pay no import duty, just VAT :) - I'll have a chat with them and see what model/prices they come up with.

P.S - If a Nuclear bomb really does go off in London do I get your SFF collection?

If Bournemouth survives the nuclear wind and radioactive fallout, I deem that you may have whatever is left of my SFF stockpile :D

Sorry to hear 'bout the little screen. Think I'll bide my time, save my pennies, and try and source from reliable retailer after Christmas.

it's a tough call - all he needs to say is 'it was working when it left me'... on a legal basis , it's difficult to prove that someone intenionally sent you faulty goods.

Don't ebay have an insurance thing?

I got a LCD screen today from www.merconnet.com (http://www.merconnet.com) it took 17 days to arrive and cost £106 inc. postage. It works OK with the Eden board using the composite out.

What is the quality of the TV out with this LCD like on the Eden ? I too am after a LCD to give me a display (most likely winamp controls).

Yeah, I saw these guys advertising through eBay. Would be interested in the quality.

Can't argue with the price as long as the picture is rock solid. Is it purely composite input or do they have s-video too?

watch out for merconett, they will give you a delivery date, which they will not honour, not reply to your emails until you suggest getting your credit card company involved, you will then get your delivery. How do I know, because all this happened to me, I will not be buying anything from them again, I could have walked to and from their uk base in grimsby in the time it took them to deliver.

The screen is a 5.6" colour LCD monitor with composite input. The display is OK but when used with my Eden board the image isn't that clear. I've tried plugging a Playstation 2 into it and the display is very sharp. The Eden board isn't that good on a TV either with composite or S-video (though s-video is better). Can anyone recomend a cheap graphics card with good quality composite output?

I recomend a BIOS and driver update - I get a really good picture with my boards. Alot of it depends on quality of TV/Video lead. If not the only real choice is Geforce 2 mx as featured on this web site. However if you can find a 7500 PCI go for it. The 9000 series WILL feature PCI versions so thats another option.

NEVER USE COMPOSITE. The signal is nothing short of sh*t, always use S-VHS. If you can find a cheap VGA - RGB box that will also allow you to get a good picture without using up the PCI slot.

Cheers

Gary,

The website states 2 video inputs. Is this composite and s-video or composite and a standard d-sub VGA?

The screen has got 2 composite inputs. the screen has a captive cable about 50mm long with a 5 pin mini-DIN plug on the end. A cable about 1m long then plugs into this mini-DIN and terminates in a power connector, and 3 phono plugs for composite channel 1 and 2 and audio in.
