8x or 16x

Is there much difference between these two speed dvd drives, since 8x seems to be the fastest slimline dvd drive available :confused:

16x are faster so they can read DVDs at higher speeds improving overall quality, but they are also alot more noisey compared to the 8x.

Unless you spend extra & get a decent one like a Toshiba. Almost silent at full speed.
