I'm using an SS51G. I just temporarily unplugged the fan on my graphics card (MSI ti4200) and I didn't realise how much noise it was making! Is there any way to make this thing quieter, what about the Thermaltake G4 cooler, or maybe the TK cooler with a resistor on the fan, since the heatsink is more efficiant this should be ok?

Hehe yeah he did but you hear horror stories of fans failing and cards dying instantly especially really new (read hot running) ones :D

It's not like I was running any 3D apps when I did it! it wasn't even warm.

The Thermaltake coolers are quite noisy, please be aware that to use it with a fanmate you'll need to re-wire it as the gf4 cooler uses a 4 pin molex plug and the zalman is 3pin. Changes are it would work better than the standard fan, but I would make sure you still have some airflow passing over it otherwise it's gonna overheat !

The new Zalman video heatsinks but look great but won't fit in the SS51..

I've changed my mind and gonna get a different graphics card, because the MSI cooler is the nosiest out of all of them according to Toms Hardware (http://www17.tomshardware.com/graphic/02q2/020522/ti4400_4600-03.html)
