OK,

I've just finished my degree and as part of my dedication to the cause, I gave up PC gaming for 2 1/2 years

I used to play HL1 and CS1 big time about 7 years ago, then HL2/CS2 for a bit before I started uni. But my main addiction was ultima online. I had a knee operation when I was in sixth form, so whilst I was bed ridden I pretty much picked up an obsession for ultima online and played up to 14 hours/day consistently ! (sad....)

Anyway, those times are over and my question is this...

What are the current top online titles that people are playing? I want to buy a few and try and get back into gaming. I have 8MB ADSL and my PC is in my sig (not the best graphics card for dual 20in TFTs, but it gets by).

What do you suggest? I'm ideally looking for a game that has just come out that 'will be big', I would consider an MMORPG (obviously WOW is out of the question because its quite old now), I wanna catch this game from the start so that when it really takes off i'm a half decent level.

Thanks all,

Nick

Keep an eye on Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Huxley, Pirates of the Burning Sea, these all have the potential to be successful. I know there's more but they're at the back of my mind at the minute.

Congratulations on your degree!

I agree with Huxley but this might be a bit of a wait into 2007.

If you're a Lord of the Rings fan I recommend the upcoming MMO http://www.lotro-europe.com/

I've never played an MMORPG but I might keep an eye on that.

Are they not very good then? My only experience with them has been with PS2 games.

Dnt get me wrong, iam not saying they are crap or anything. They just need to improve their mmo community support and also change who the employ to GM their games.

I played one of their mmo (rfo, look on my xfire sig) for nearly 6months and put in alot of effort into my toon, but one day cm went to far and i just quit like that. Funny thing is i have around 30/40 days still on my account to this very day but have the game uninstalled off my rig :D

Anyways, iam abit like you and have only been playing mmo for around 2yrs so dnt take my word for it :p

I agree that CM aren't very appealing on the GM front, and playing RFO the customer service was horrible. I guess LotRO is my final straw with them, but so far it looks very exciting (being a LotR nerd) - then again so did RFO.

Iam not sure if iam gonna give Archlord a try, out next month (beta starts on the 24th of this month btw) and than be let down by CM's service again.

Also after weeks of torment, i gave into one of my work mates and got WoW - Installing as i tpye this post :) At least i'l be busy until WarHammer Online :D
