pda woes

I got myself a pda with gps capability(cough medion) , it came with a REALLY old mapping system which is ok for about town.Purchased an upgrade , installed and guess what it didnt work....even though its the same software for a 1/3rd of the price.

It seems that the manufacturer , or should that be rebadger , found it fit to hard code the serial device (so I am told being clueless) and that it will only work with their(once again rebadged )software.

Anyone ever reflashed a pda into another brand?

Ended up using a 3rd party software to reprogram the preferences on the dongle.
