Opps got the name of the prog wrong! it's LitePC not winlite! (that name was being played about the XP release")
Hey all!
Have anyone been using LitePC? or the soon to be released 2000Lite
I been using litePC for nearly 2 years now!
if you's never heard of it it's a prog that can strip roughly 70% of the blotaware from any 95,98,98SE,ME
I can get a Fresh install of Win98SE down to 50Mb, no network, Internet, or browser software but they can be added from the Add/Remove section of windows as required!
As a result i've got a nearly crash free windows system! great for single player games and all those CPU intensive DiVX encodings! :)

goto www.litepc.com (http://www.litepc.com)
you can download a free version of the software. it'll give you the "Add/Remove" options for most of the so called "required functions for Windows operation" to mbe removable!
Here is a list of some of the items you can remove and replace at will:
Internet Explorer
Media Player7 (Me)
MovieMaker (Me)
PC Health (Me)
Media Player2
DirectX
Direct Media
Task Scheduler
MS Cryptography
Web Folders
Internet Control Panel
Internet Search
Telephony
ISDN Configuration Wizard
Disk Defragmenter
Scandisk
ICM Color Profiles
Imaging Support
System Information
CleanUp Manager
Tune-up Wizard
Active Movie
Dr. Watson
Data Access Components
Connection Manager
Email Stationery
Windows Help Files
Legacy Windows 3.1 files
DOS command Files
Desktop Color Schemes
Desktop Tiles
....and more
A 2000/XP version of the software will hopefully be around in a few months!
cost $25
The real killer about this powerfull prog is the download file size!! It's less than 500Kb
that includes help files!!

Hey there!!
there is no need to "Reinstall" windows to use LitePC! it has an option to "Take Control" this gives you the "Add Remove" options.
You only need a Clean reinstall if you want to get down to the 50Mb or less size!!
I wasnt saying a format c for that reason, i was saying that because PQuiff said he might delete something important. :D :D
