As title basically...
Anybody bought something similar recently? Any recommendations at all?
Looking for the "records straight to DVD" type, doesn't matter if it's full size disks or those wee ones that you can get.
I suppose it's more about quality features than price as well, if that helps...
Thanks in advance!
:D
edit: I should probably add that I don't have a lot of knowledge in this field so any input would most likely be helpful! Thanks again! :)

Ha!
Looks like Kustom forum members are too wrapped up in their PC's to have any time for DVD recorders and the like :D
In fairness however... you'd be better advised to ask the question on forums dedicated to the subject - such as the AV forums (http://avreviews.avforums.com/index.php).
Go down to the bottom of that page, and select 'Camcorders' from the drop-down reviews menu.
But it would probably be worthwhile having a quick shuftie at camcorder reviews done by the likes of:
PC Pro (http://www.pcpro.co.uk/search/?q=Camcorders&magazine=1§ion=all&m=all&as=yes&x=0&y=0) (I personally put quite a lot of faith in their reviews, and constantly check what products are on their 'A-List' )
Review Centre (http://www.reviewcentre.com/products58.html)
IT Reviews (http://www.itreviews.co.uk/hardware/hard14.htm)
Happy hunting... and do let us know what you decide to go for in the end - plus you're reasons for doing so ;)

Right. After some deliberation, I've settled for this one:
Link (http://shop.sonystyle-europe.com/sl/sony-style-uk/33306-UK-30-GB-HDD-Handycam-DCR-SR90--DCRSR90ECEH.html)
Features are good for a novice like me, and the technology is pretty new so it should stay 'current' for at least a while. Hopefully! :)
Any thoughts anyone?

Nice camera that  Looks to be a good choice :)
But I hope t' hell you're not buying it direct from Sony at that price
It's available from any number of alternative sources for some £180 less... i.e. £665 (£670 including delivery) vs £850 from Sony
Some of the sources are competitor stores, so you'll have t' Google for 'em.
But the prices I've mentioned ^^ were from the two or three links I checked... so it's quite possibly available even cheaper yet ;)

Thanks Fireblade.
Nah, there's no chance of me buying it direct from Sony at that price, just linked the first website that came up so you could all have a look-see.
I managed to get it to around the figure you've quoted plus free delivery, so hopefully it turns up soon, so that I can play with it! :D
