I have about 8 partitions on my 120gb HD however i need to increase the size of my Windows partion.
I have Windows XP Home, the HD has no unpartitioned space so i will have to make one of the other partitions smaller.
Now is Windows going to moan about this or shouldn there be a problem ?!?
Also what software should i use (partitions where created through win setup), i was thinking about Disk Wizard (by seagate) or would Partition magic 7 be better ?!?
Thx for your help ;)
I'd certainly recommend Partition Magic as its v easy to use and I've used it for partitions on various different machines and OSes with no problems what so ever.
i second Partition Magic, its a great little app and easy to use but powerful

Partition Magic is tops fer this kinda thing, and the latest version (8.0) now lets you make the changes within Windows using an easy-to-use interface. Wi' older versions you had t' boot inta DOS, then sort it all out.
It'll still take a while 'til all the changes you've made are finished, and yer drive(s) ready t' use of course, but it's well worth the wait... and PM 8.0 well worth yer money IMHO ;)

I third/fourth partition magic.
It's the only worthwhile piece of software left for Windows :D
Counting the days until a Linux equivelant... sigh.
BTW creepy, even 7.0 let you do all the changes in a nice GUI, and only the formatting happened in what you would prolly call "DOS" (ie before Win2k booted).
I used this software for the first time Yesterday, yes you heared me the "first time".
I cant believe how simple it is to use, saved me time when i deleted a partition then made the primary partition larger and formatted it.
How simple. :)

Sorry, thought you meant older than 8.0, cos that's the only one you mentioned :p
Have I said how great Partition Magic is yet?
Holy cow, Partition Magic is great.
The more eagle-eyed and stopwatched-handed of you will notice it also formats about eighteen billion times faster than Windows does. Buy. It. Now. No computer should be without it (unless of course you are clever and know how big your partitions should be when you first install anyway).
Anyone keeping their data on the same partition as Windows is asking for trouble. A reinstall takes me half an hour after installation finishes to get back up and running again, since NONE of my data resides on hda1. just installed progs. I just reinstall them as soon as windows loads, point them at where my data is stored, and bingo, all their settings are back in place with almost zero downtime and zero loss of data. Partitions are the sole reason that Windows ermains usable IMO.
By the way, Partition Magic is great.

I agree partition magic is good if not using the windows partition.. you'll be very lucky of pulling of a change of partition size on a windows partition.. just remeber to bk up stuff first.

I've done it several times - No ill effects.
It is better to defrag your drives first. :) Saves PM doing a lot of fluffing about.
Never had a problem with P.Magic and I've resized many a partition in a multi-partition drive. As long as it's the XP-supporting version (8.0?) you'll have no bother. Earlier versions don't like XP's slightly different version of the NTFS file system apparently.
It's one of those essential apps like Ghost :)
