Does anyone know of any software to allow me to play music stored on a central server in different rooms?
Thanks

depends on what you are hooking the central server upto.
Have you got a set of speakers in each room.
Do you want the music to be controlled from a pc in the room you are listening to the music in or to be able to set off a playlist on the server and direct the music to just one room.
Do you want to be able to play different music in different rooms at the same time.
We could do with a little more information.
Rims,
P.S. You could just get very big speakers and crank the volume up and then you would be able to hear the music in every droom in the house (and half way down the street). :D
Winamp allows you to play music thats stored on another computer on the network, all you do is browse for the files through winamp then play them.
I suppose I should have been more descriptive
The plan is:
speakers in each room. And then while I enjoy a little heavy stuff, the Mrs can be enjoying a little Bach (or whatever Mrs's listen to) down in the lounge or bedroom. So I would like to be able to play 2 different streams of audio in 2 different rooms.
I guess I will also need hardware so any ideas on this too.
Hope this is more helpful :)
the easiest way is to store your MP3s on the server and then access the server using Winamp or Musicmatch from the PCs in each room. A decent sound card plugged into hifi in each room will work a treat. If you dont have a stereo in each room...invest in some good PC speakers. The server can be any platform...just set up a share. ie m:=mp3files
