View Full Version : How to watch camcorder through PC
I want to be Able to take stills off my video camera and be able to watch my Video camera through my PC how do I do this Ive got my Camcorder connected to my PC please help
How is you camcorder conneced...and do you want to watch or edit?
Its connect through the port on my ATI 9700
TV-out i think But for some reason I dont think it will work
If it wont what hardware do you reccomend to get
thankx
No it wont work using that port (the svhs connector on the 9700 is an output port for plugging your PC into a TV)
What you need is a video capture card...the ones on Kustom require you to have firewire capabilities on Your camcorder (If you post the model I will check out what you have)
meanwhile heres a few cards to have a look at http://www.hauppauge.com/html/products.htm#pci
The first section shows cards which allow you to capture video onto your hard drive
The second section are purely TV cards with various options (the last 2 have SVHS in)
Third section are external usb devices
Fourth section Digital decoders for cable/sky type applications
I would suggest either WinTV-Radio or WinTV-Theatre
Samsung VP-K70
thanks for the info
Well I never knew were so deer I was looking at the USB options the second card model 621 it seems to do the job But i cant buy online so do you know of and Shop retailers that sell them nearby
I live in Prestwick next to Kustom

I couldn't find the Model that you stated, listed on Samsung's website. The nearest I could find was the VP-L770.
If you have USB on the camera & you are running Win XP, when you connect the camera up it should then list the camera under Windows Explorer, and thumbnail the Stills for you that are already on the camera. I have the VP-D10 connected via IEEE1394 and this does that on my main system here. I am still trying to get to grips with Adobe Premiere at present (halfway through printing out a 650 page e-book at this very moment!!!!!).

If your doing video capture, a nice fast harddisk also helps.

It sure does. For some reason the 2 x 7200rpm drives I have as a RAID 0 config, seem to create droped frames if captured to them, yet if captured to a stand alone identical drive, there are no dropped frames whatsoever!!! All HDD's are on the RAID controller with just 2 as the RAID 0.
I think I may have to look at Serial-ATA very soon or bite the bullet & go UW-160 SCSI & Seagate 10k+ Cheetahs :D :D :D :D
