View Full Version : Extra TV Card?
Ok, so I have a Asus DVB-T/Pal Dolphin Hybrid card with MCE. My question is how do I go about putting another card in to watch and record or record 2 channels etc? Is it just a case of putting an MCE approved card in and it'll set itself up in MCE or does the extra card run alongside MCE and you use its own software to record or watch TV?
Cheers!

MCE itself can use both TV cards to record and watch different channels at the same time. I'm not sure about how you do it or if the tuners need to be identical, but I know that MCE can definately use 2 tuners. There's no need to run seperate software for the 2nd tuner.
yeah i'd read that, just need to know how to do it *scratches head*

For MCE to be happy you ideally need to get the same card as you already have (assuming that its MCE certified) Then add this card in, load MCE, tell it to re scan for channels, it will ask if you want to tune one or two cards, say two, then its as normal.
Once youre done MCE will use both cards as and when it needs to, you won't have to worry about which card it uses and dont need any extra software.
There are ways of getting two different cards to work together if you look around though
Ahhh, cheers! Just need to find someone who sells an identical card now?!

According to the spec its an Asus DVB-T/Pal Dolphin Hybid. I googled it earlier and all I could find were some strange foreign sites. Nothing english :(

Is this the card:

I know nothing about it but its the only Asus card froogle had.
The simplest option might be to get two new tuners that are definately MCE compatible and sell your current one
Hmm, might just try putting a MCE certified one and see what happens. If it doesnt work i'll get 2 matching ones :)
Just a thought, once I put another in do i need to run an ariel feed to that one too? Or just one of them?

I'd expect that it would need a coax feed...
Find the shortest coax you can and take it from the coax out of the first card into the coax in of the second. That should work, I used to have to separte video players set-up like that anyway (the same with scart as well)
Yeah I'd guess so, just wanted to make sure so I can pick up some more co-ax while I'm picking up the new card.
Cheers
Ok, so I have added a second card and now after the initital success random channels are always 'off air'?! Anyone got any clues why its saying theres no signal when there is?
Cheers!
