There's a pretty decent Aiwa speaker set on offer in PC world at the moment, it's called the 0.1 system.

Should do you fine.

It all depends how much you want to spend. You can get a decent set of stand alone speakers for less than £200 probably. But if you want top quality then hifi seperates are the way to go. I use a nice denon amp and a set of bose speakers with a nice 9" sub for the sound from my htpc, and it gives truly amazing sound quality and awesome bass. A system like that will cost you a lot more than £200 though, I spent over £1k on my setup but that was a few years ago so something similar should be well below £1k now.

I have the Logitech Z3 2.1 speakers and the similar 5.1 set. Both of them kick quite hard, considering the size of the sub and how cheap the speakers are (Z3 cost me £60, 5.1 set £90 or something), but the subs are small and that limits what they can do. Punchy, but not earth ****tering.

Currently got a pair of bose 502's in the van :) Lovely things.. little heavy though! In all serousness though you could maybe look at a tannoy TS8
