Got a bit of a silly question for you all. I`ve already got a DVD drive installed in my PC and I just got back in from buying a CDRW drive. My question is, what do I do about the audio cable that goes from a drive`s output into the soundcard? Do I need to leave it in the DVD drive, shift it into the CDRW or get a splitter cable so it goes from the soundcard and into both drives? If I need a splitter, anyone know where to get one online? Cheers all.

I have the audio cable go from my CD-RW to my aux on my sb live which works perfectly well and seems to be what most people do. On the other hand modern operating system don't require this audio cable at all on either drive (windows xp being a good example).

you would only need the audio cable if you were using the drive to play audio using analogue audio. Any system installed with Windows Media Player 7 (Me and XP have it built in also) will play cd audio digitally which would mean you wouldn't need the cable, but even if you dont have this installed, the drive can still be used to extract audio for copying cd's etc
