Should he have been suspended? I had my fill of free speech debate recently! I will not be posting on this thread at all. I be interested to see what others have to say though...

Same. it doesn't really bother me as to what happens to him. It hasn't affected my day-to-day goings so i'm not bothered

The guy is a first class idiot. He is so typical of Tony Blairs Governement....however....I don't think he should have been suspended. Overreaction just because the guy he compared to a Nazi is jewish IMHO.
When in public office, you cannot make these kind of comments. In fact, you shouldn't make these sort of comments, full stop!! His refusal to even apologise made a bad situation worse. The fact that he has been in politics so long only emphasises his arrogance and lack of consideration towards other human beings so, yes, he should have been suspended and if I had my way, it would have been for a lot longer.

Yep, I also found myself looking for this option

Well i'm not posting about the issue. I think 'don't care' falls into the 'don't know' category to be honest...
Nope.
"Don't know" means: "I'm interested, but I have not yet formed an opinion as to whether or not he should have been suspended" or "I'm interested, but have insufficient information at this stage to make a definitive yes/no decision on the matter"
"Don't care", on the other hand, means: "rates a big fat zero on my give-a-foccometer".
This, as well as whether that ugly woman's martgage was paid off by somebody else, whether we should or shouldn't live in america's pockets, whether charles or wills should be the next monarch, whether the blind guy should or shouldn't have done whatever he got fired for - all of no concern to me whatsoever.
Politics is pointless at the moment. I remember voting for labour however many years ago for the slogan "tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime". They aren't. That's all I care about really, is having a safe place to live.
I'm getting a bit bored of hearing things like "we need more immigrants in this coutry so they can have babies, because we need more people paying tax to fill the pension pot" too.
My X in a box goes to the next political party that says: "I know how to keep the pension pot full, STOP PAYING BENEFITS TO DRUG ADDICTS, BURGLARS AND ASYLUM SEEKERS....."
Until then, whether a politician is at work, off sick, suspended, or caught being rogered by a rubber clad sumo wrestler, he didn't have my support to begin with, and still doesn't now.

Nice reply, but for the purposes of a 'poll' i'm pretty sure 'don't care' would come under 'don't know'. I never seen a poll on telly with 'don't know' and 'don't care' in the options. Anyhow, as the instigator of this poll I give my full blessing for any 'don't cares' to pleasurably register their vote under 'don't know'. ;) :D
P.S. Long live Charlie!
I edited the options to reflect your thoughts, and have voted ;)
I'm a bit puzzled Forthy.
You claim that you don't care about the question posed, but you've already posted 3 times, 1 pretty lengthy, on this thread.
God helps us when something piques your interest ...

He's taken over the post! Someone arrest the guy... :D  A new cover of that Transvision Vamp song awaits him and wealth beyond his wildest dreams!!!
Don't care is the correct choice. Don't know doesn't cut it for what is intended. - But I understand, most of you don't know the difference between "Un-interested" and "dis-interested" either so it will make no difference anyway.

I suggest all these structural comments on surveys are rushed in to the pollsters, as I am sure I always see 'Yes', 'No' or 'Don't Know' in official polls. Maybe they could make some fine use of these suggestions.

All of which demonstrated that I don't care about whether or not Livingstone got suspended, and why.
What exactly are you puzzled about?
[EDIT]
I've just realised that despite the fact that I've posted three times you failed to read any of them and get the point. Thus to ease your confusion:
It's not that I don't care about the question, it's that my answer to the question is "I don't care".
Puzzle solved?

The assumption that I didn't understand your posts invests them with an intellectual weight they clearly don't carry.
If I don't care about something I won't waste a second of my time on it. You've clearly wasted several minutes on this thread.
Get a life.
Do you understand?
They clearly are more intellectual than you, on the basis that you clearly don't understand them.
I can't make it any clearer, so I'll just repeat it. I do care about the question. My answer to the question is "I don't care".
There is a massive difference.
Perhaps when he's back from suspension he could invest a little more in London's failing education system...

I understand your posts perfectly well, thank you. I'll try to make this simple for you, btw my initial post was a joke, anyway:
1) You are not interested in the issue.
2) You spend a considerable amount of time engaging with the issue.
Isn't that utterly foolish? If I spent 10 minutes of my time on every issue that didn't interest me I'd need 240 hours in a day.
Is it not blindingly obvious that it's stupid to take 10 minutes to say "I don't care"
I understand your posts perfectly well, thank you.
Clearly you do not. Here goes attempt number 3....
1) You are not interested in the issue.
I am interested in this issue. The point I was making was that all we hear about politics now is that this person or that person is corrupt, and nobody actually makes anything beter. Which is *supposed* to be why we put these people in power in the first place. Therefore I don't care whether he is suspended or not, because it won't make a blind bit of difference to the future of London, or the country. I find this worrying.

Depends on whether you're capable of understanding a deeper meaning really. I don't think it's foolish having my say. Nor do I find it foolish explaining my point of view to people who are incapable of deciphering it when it is clearly written in the first place. You never know, one day they might just understand....

What relevance this has to Livingstone's suspension, I can't really say. And if corruption is all you think we hear of politics, you should try reading more than just the Sun.
OK then, name one good news story to come from a government (national or local) office that's been covered by something other than the Beano in the last 6 months.
I doubt you can. It's all just doom and gloom. Livingstone being susended over some poxy remark to a journalist is just the latest in a long line of rubbish storys where no improvements to the quality of life for the general public are mentioned.
Actually, no, I can think of a good one. My gran got an extra 10p on her allowance this month to cover her heating bills. How generous of them. That'll really make a massive difference. Perhaps they could have given her a week of Livingstones wages whilst he's off instead

Well the bad stories seem to grab the front pages I guess. There is usually some good story stuck in at the end of a news bulletin as an afterthought almost. Usually something corny. I completely digress here. Anyone in the South today region? Jo kent bring a smile to my face ;) :) :D . I don't usually catch much of the news though... Too busy admiring. Oh yessss!

Forthy,
I've edited this post as the 1st attempt wasn't quite right - I think it fair to mention that - the 1st attempt was ruder.
Anyway, let's bring this to an end. I made a joke, renegotiation got it, you didn't. I'm not sure why this was the cue for you to pick a fight with me. You immediately got personal, to my shame I then followed suit. Not great behaviour for 2 grown men, is it?
Pfft.
Lively debate always seems to end with somebody thinking I'm fighting with them. I don't really get why. Just 'cos the Elk is running with a stroppy face, doesn't mean I'm always talking with one.
I haven't taken anything you've said personally, and you shouldn't take anything I've said personally either.
Needless to say the point still stands, evidentially, on the basis that nothing positive has been mentioned.
I haven't taken anything you've said personally, and you shouldn't take anything I've said personally either.
How can I not take it personally when you start implying that I'm stupid and poorly educated? If you don't think you implied either of those things then I suggest you read your posts better. And all I after I made a joke, it may well have been a rubbish joke but it was a joke nonetheless.
Good lord. Here we go again.
I didn't say you were stupid. I said over and over again that you didn't understand my posts. If you had have understood my posts, perhaps:
(a) you wouldn't have been offended by them
(b) you wouldn't have kept coming back at me asking me why I was posting in a thread that I wasn't interested in, when I was interested in it!
And, tbh, whilst we're expressing how deeply upset we are at each other ( ) the more you say you were joking, the more I read back through the posts and think you weren't anyway. Here's why: If you were joking, when I explained myself the first time you would have replied with something like: "Yeah, I get you mate, but I thought it was funny!" Whereas your reply was: "If I don't care about something I won't waste a second of my time on it. You've clearly wasted several minutes on this thread." clearly indicating that at that point you still thought I cared no toss for the subject matter.
This makes it all the more laughable when you ask me to read my posts better.

A 2 minute chat can usually sort out differences amicably... Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast here that forum posting can lead to misunderstanding. This is especially the case when related to more complex subjects. Everyone here seems good natured and helpful to me. If anything i've probably peed some people off. Not intentionally though. Just grin and bear it is the best policy. Some of the topical discussiom stuff would probably work better on live chat to be honest. All's well that ends well. :)
I will mediate here (political speak for stirring things up). Forthy enjoys debate - especially of a lively nature but if one doesn't realise it one can be taken aback by his response.
Burgi, because you didn't know what he was like, your initial and subsequent responses were serious and - it seemed to me - accusatory. In fact I felt that you were being agressive and a bit rude. But this is Forthy we are talking about and he did not consider your response accusatory or rude. You did, in your responses, fail to understand his explanations as to being interested in the topic but not caring about the result and I think that you read his first response as meaning something that he didn't mean and have stuck to that interpretation ever since.
I voted don't care as well because I couldn't give a toss about Ken Livingstone one way or another. I am interested in the alleged offence and the way the various parties went about their manouvering - mostly at the tax-payer's expense and with no benefit to those poor maligned sods.

Here here....Couldn't have said it better myself :)
I've opted for the "Don't Care" option, specifically with regard to my opinion on Ken Livingstone's suspension.
I may have opinions surrounding the insensitivity shown by elected individuals that are in the public eye, but with regard to punishment by peers/panels.......... then just like Forthy, I'm fresh out of AA batteries on my give-a-foccometer.
Ken Livingstone is great. He is one of the few politicians wih balls. No politician dares to stand to the jewish lobby.
