Personally, I think the people who did this were very clever, they've pulled off the biggest heist in British history and are now leading the authorities on a wild goose chase. I also think that Securitas (the company the money was stolen from) should be deeply embarrassed. They are indeed a firm which deals with extremely large amounts of money, should there not have been armed guards all over this warehouse? Was there any guards on duty? If so, what were they doing?
The family which was kidnapped, surely they, the company or the police knew all along they were a potential target for a group of thieves? I would've expected some sort of device which would allow them to alert Police quickly if they were in any kind of danger.
It's almost definate that the people who stole this money are on the other side of the world right now. These are not your average thieves.
Just my personal opinion. I would like to know your views.

So you don't think the Police would have been at every airport, ferry port, etc as soon as they heard about the heist? In any case taking the money is only half the robbery, the more difficult part is getting rid of it without raising alarm ;)

I honestly sound like a criminal, but I'm not I promise! ;)

Now, what if they spread the money out, driving to the channel tunnel, crossing the border into france, meeting up. We don't know a lot about these thieves, for all we know they could have been foreigners, therefore they could drive towards spain, dropping people off at specific places, and distributing money to other people they know along the way. They could continue towards Africa where I think they could calm a little bit and then make there way to a remote place.
I know it all sounds a bit cheesey but it's how I think they've done it.

I thought we lived in the UK. The only people allowed to have guns are the robbers over here ;)

they will be caught.
how many people do you think it would take to distribute £53m without raising suspicions. i guess you could quite easily transport £5000 in cash without too much trouble. if your caught with any more than that the authorities are going to ask where it came from.
that means you'd need 10600 people. not very realistic is it.

:p Suppose you're right, but I think this could be something to maybe open the governments eyes and change the law for companies like Securitas, securicor or any companies dealing with large amounts of money. Must go now though, Rochdale match ;)

Hmmm.....I have to admit these are extremly intelligent people, I admire them for stealing the money, on some level, but what they did to that guy, his wife and kid isn't right though.
To be honest - I wouldn't have said the money would leave the UK in one whole, or in one hit.
Its either being constantly moved around the UK and freighted out in small ammounts - Or, its been put into other things like drugs or firearms. Considering the ammount of space £53 million worth of class A heroin takes up compared to £53million £20.00 notes? I would say it would be easier and quicker to traffic the drug.

Of course ther will get cought :)
Dale if we have armed guards at ever place that need secureing then what do you think criminals will do? get more guns its a cycle and before you know it we will be like the USA with many daily shootings. Mide you there cops are basically stupid and suicidle. For example run away from your car and u get 5 shots. If they cant stop you they will crash into you! head on  These are true events.
Just give it some time, doing something like this your screwed for life, think about it there not going to give up after a while.
But please dont think of them as super inelegent, there not, just doing what others can if we put our minds to it.
:)
(sorry i havent time to check the post)

True - if only it were like the Good Ol' Days of the great train robberies and highway men. I think life would be so much easier to make money then, sure you had to steal gold ingots on horse back, no health care, people trying to kill you at every corner - but its more exciting that the world we live in now unless you count sueing people for falling over a crack in the pavement exciting.....
Who says they have to use conventional travel methods to take the money away, just like the major drug operation thats been stopped they were using their own boats. You could take it of mainland UK for now to a remote island and syphon it of in smaller ammounts. There are probably issues with this but this has been so well planned do you think they will have just taken it and not thought about after? They might catch some of them, get some money back but if they got any brains they wouldnt be shifting it all together by now.
They can go over that farm all week but they need to find out where they are going and fast.
They are probably waiting outside KustomPcs for it to open in the morning so that they can buy some ace stuff!! lol
