Dunno if this is the wrong forum but I wasn't sure where to put this tyoe of question. I have downloaded a few HD trailers from the Apple site some in 720p and some in 1080p, the 720 ones work no problem taking up only between 20 and 30 percent of my cpu, they run smoothly and sound is perfectly in sync but when I try to watch the 1080 ones the sound get quite badly out of sync and the framerate drops. It only takes up about 52% of the cpu (100% of one core). I was wondering what I would actually need to run the 1080 video smoothly and in sync.

My current specs are:
AMD Athlon 3800 x2
Crucial 2Gig PC4000
Club3D 7800GT

PS my proc is clocked at 2.2Ghz

thats quite strange.. your hardware should be able to cope with it.... you got all ur drivers up to date??? (chipset and graphics)

What are the clips encoded with?? perhaps a newer version of the codec you are using???

Yep, just updated my GFX drivers to make sure but that didn't help, not sure what they are encoded in, they are straight from the Apple site so I would assume H.264. It's playing through MPC with quickalternative, just about to try installing the proper quicktime see if that makes a difference.

Ahhh that seems to have done the trick! I think the guys who wrote quick alternative need to get their asses into gear and release a new version! :) Now all I need is a monitor that supports a res 1920 wide! :)
