Hi,
I know little about viruses. I did an online scan with Kaspersky's extensive database and it came up with this:
not-a-virus: Downloader.Win32.DigStream
(gap left by me to stop big grin happening because of the : and the D)
I also did the same with my dad's pc and it came up with the same result. We don't share pc's. I thought it unlikely that we both pick up the same problem. Is this something to worry about or just something it's picking up that it shouldn't? There was no information in the Kaspersky encyclopedia about this item either. Any help appreciated.
Thanks.
Probably minor spyware. Download Spybot or AdAware and they should clear it up.

They used hijackthis to remove a trojan? That must have been difficult
Download Spybot Search & Destroy and/or ad-aware and scan with them, goodbye malware :)

Cheers for the replies. Adaware, Spybot and Windows Defender didn't find it. Mcafee AV found nothing. Just got this reply by e mail from Kaspersky:

Didn't know they were really Russian lol. She definitely seems to hint it is dangerous. Can't quite decipher exactly what she said though. What would you guys do if you were me? Uninstall Mcafee and install Kaspersky to remove it? Can anyone else perhaps do a Kaspersky online scan and see if they find it? Would be grateful. If anyone does it has to be with the extended database. It doesn't show up on the normal scan. Option is on scan settings.
Thanks.

Try looking it up on an antivirus' online virus database, then most of them have removal tools that you can download for free
