Help! My Netgear wireless router isn't connecting to the internet at all. All stations on my network can still connect to the router, but unfortunately the router just isn't connecting to the internet. Thankfully, I have a spare ADSL modem lying around, the modem (and by implication) the ADSL line is working fine.

It was working yesterday! No changes to the router have been made since last week or so.

I'm sure you probably have... but have you tried clicking the 'repair' tab?

maybe it stalled, just uplug it for a min or 2 then plug it back in and see if that does the trick.

When you say not connecting what are the symptoms? Which lights flash etc on the router itself. Have you tried the BT test account?

Sometimes I have intermittent problems. They seem to rectify themselves though. If you have your pcs on all the time have you tried just rebooting? That's worked for me a few times.

It seems to have solved itself.

A new question: Are routers self aware? This would seem to explain their odd behaviour?

Sort of. They are totally standalone, so nothing you do from a client machine will affect them.

I find they can sort them selves out when trying to connect to the internet given time, but they should work instantly.
