OK nuff said, time for the proper bands:D

The Who

Pink Floyd

The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Led Zeppelin

not in any particular order but Hendrix is God!!!!

has anyone noticed that there don't seem to be any 'proper' bands around these days? A band today seems to be a group of people (not always musicans) that have been put together by a producer etc..........very cynical.

Bands from my era were probably the same right enough except there was more talent then, or is it that the musical talent is not allowed to show these days?

anyway beat that for a 'proper' favourite band list!!!!!;)

And Hundreds more folks....

Favourite Song is Stairway To Heaven
Favourite Album is Epic Forest by Rare Bird
Favourite Band is Free.

I saw them live at Green's Playhouse in 1972, I've seen all of the great rock bands of the past, and the Free gig was the best.

They weren't the showmen that Queen were, they didn't have hi-tech light shows, but Paul Rodgers was acknowledged as the finest rock and blues singers of his generation and one of the best in the world. The late great Paul Kossoff had a unique style, never properly copied (though the current Bad Company guitarist makes a good fist of it).

His guitar work live was even better than studio and some of the more haunting passages would make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

As for the atmosphere of the show. - For TWO solid hours, it didn't let up. Green's Playhouse had a very strict rule about not standing up - that went by the board that night. No one sat down the whole evening. The band came onto a dark stage, the opening keyboard riff for The Highway Song started and the place erupted en masse. (Yes I still remember it well!!) I've even got photos of it but - cheap camera - small images.

/me stop now, before I turn this into a book!

Alan, the Creed I refer to are often the darlings of the US rock scene (sometimes unfortunately). They are better than the hype I reckon. Mark Tremonti on guitar, great player, really talented guy. I suspect from your list you'd like them. Lead singer Scott Stapp often likened to Eddie Vedder, but i've never been a massive Pearl Jam fan, so I don't get it myself. Both of the guys are currently writing their own solo stuff. Can't wait.

On a side note, did you see Paul Rodgers last year at Barrowlands, with Asia supporting? Great gig, i'm a massive Asia fan (and they were brilliant) but Paul Rodgers was amazing. No doubt.

Oh, and were you a fan of the Brian Howe era of Bad Company at all?

Spindaft, i see yer a Creed fan too ;)

My favourites have to be Muse, Blink 182, Feeder, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay and All American Rejects and Sum41. I dont usually buy albums just download a lot of singles. Snow Patrol's album is v. good and Reactor(song off of lynx touch advert), and Maroon 5.

Everyone has gotta love Queen aswell:D

Hey ;) what's wrong with classical ;) you gotta love Toccata and fuge in D minor! (the music they used in most of the Dracula movies)
There's the 1812 overuture! you gotta like that!
or the haunting "Barber's Adagio For Strings" :)

I'm into most music! but love Roster just now! gotta get more of there stuff!!
