go into the bios on start up and move the CD drive to the top of the boot list
let the pc start up, stick cd shut down then it will boot from it :)
hope that helped :D

i would have
something else
floppy
CD / DVD
hard drive
if you have more than one hard drive you can change the order of them aswell within the hard drive option.

I use Floppy, CD/DVD, Hard Disk, USB
basically you need the machine to check the CD before going off to load from hard disk, so really anything with CD first will do

that means it can't find something to boot from, i have got that when i have installed a blank hard drive.
What type of CD is it? Is it a bootable restore, XP OEM or a drivers CD?

We are assuming that it is a legit windows CD.

I have that problem.
What I tried to do was slipstream SP2 with a copy of XP Pro SP1. But also intergrate my raid drivers and an easy setup menu - basically it automatically punches in all my info, name, time, CD-key etc...
Then you have to extract the image ISO from the original CD, and put it onto the new one you made.
I did all this, burned it several times, and every time would come up with.
Could not find NTLDR - I still havent resolved it? Any ideas people??
EDIT: If this was posted yesterday, can I ask why the guy was permenently banned??
Im not banned ;) still have that prob btw.

you got anything on the hard drive? if not or you don't care if it gets wiped then delete then remake the partition(s) then format the hard drive. I think windows has an option to format the hard drive when installing.

Yup! And my copy of XP PRO is legit - surprisingly lol. But I am refering to the backup I made. I cant afford to scratch an £80.00 and not have it work again.
So anyway, I think I have destroyed my RAID Config, my HDD are clean, I have formatted them since and it still comes up with NTDLR not found (or something, been such a long time since I tried it) :p But I think I need to do that. The weird thing was how it happened though, I dont understand why it did what it did.
Basically, has 2X WD Raptors running in RAID 0 - Stripe.
Unplugged them both an plugged in a WD IDE HDD To install Linux onto - boot in CD, reboot, nothing...ok, tried it on comp with IDE HDD setupi anyway, worked fine.
Plugged in my Raptors......FFfffff.....grind...poo....  .
Can someone explain what the hell I did wrong?!

this may sound stupied but did you plug them in the right way round?

So what was the problem in the end, and how did you fix it?
Explaining it (even briefly) might help somebody with a similar problem in future ;)
Doubt it would, but ok :)
It was my 2 copies of windows xp, one wasnt bootable and the other was corrupt. (both legit copies of course ;) )
So i went out and "bought" a new one, now it works :D
