Donington '95
Metallica headlined, but the bill also included Slayer, Machine Head, White Zombie, C.O.C, Therapy and erm....Skid Row.
At the start of the metalli-tune "One" just as the machine-gun firing piece was playing they detonated some flashbangs on stage to simulate explosions and then fired rockets over the crowds!!!!! The atmosphere was wild. It was un-chuffing-believeable!
hmmmm and...apparently a special service was held at St. Edward's in Castle Donington prior to the 1995 show in order to oppose the 'occult forces' which were feared could have been unleashed by the festival and, in particular by the band White Zombie.
Although I should give Offspring's Jan '99 gig at the Barrowlands a mention. It has to come a close second.

Echobelly in Southampton (twice)
Just two awesome awesome gigs. Shame they've split now. Just had soooooo much presence. Blew me away.
First time I've crowd-surfed and the whole experience during "Scream" was unbelieveable.
Most surprising act I've seen was "My Life Story". Odd act but seeing a band with full string orchestration is the most strange thing,
The Who! @ MEN Arena & Oasis @ Manchester Apollo for the 'Small Venues' tour!
The Who were the best performance for showmanship I've ever seen and Oasis were just mentally brilliant, with Johnny Marr guesting! Well Cool :D
Ah some arena names i do know of, and the good old apollo theatre. :)
for me its got to be Pink Floyd live at docklands in 1989...awesome!
gawd I feel old now

Wet Wet Wet at Parkhead Stadium was pretty special......4 years ago.....Status Quo many moons ago at the Apollo Glasgow was amazing.....u could see the balcony swaying...time to move back a bit after each song...... :D

4 of my All time gig's were
1) Ozzy Osborne at the Edinburgh Playhouse "No more tears" tour, the look on the 18 Stone bouncers faces when Ozzy told everyone to rush the stage for a mass rendition of "Paranoid"!
Class!!
2) Moterhead Glasgow Barowlands i had the Prime spot! front of the pack right infront of the Speakers!! ;) ringing took 4 day's to go :)
3) Queensryche (Seattle Metal band) played there full "Rock opera" Operation Mindcrime! that was the last of the origional Rock Operas on the 80's it's an all time classic!!
4) Rolf Harris at The Garrage Glasgow! what more can I say! he 'n' lemmy are GODS!!!

I was at that Ozzy gig! It was a top show. Much confusion with the bouncers...Thy stopped the first couple of people trying to get on stage, but as they were doing that, Ozzy was telleing everyone else to get on stage!!!! Needless to say the bouncers gave up in the end.

Seen both of them at Barrowlands - fab bands, Foo's especially. Dave Grohl puts on an amazing show.
Has anyone heard anything on the future of the Foo's ? Someone told me Grohl wants to leave FF's to work full time on Queens of the Stone age... dunno if it's true or not tho

well new foos album out in a few weeks and they play secc next month or month after
Aww dont worry Gram, the Foo's will still be about for a while yet. So i've been led to beleive anyways.
While we're on this subject - what would be everybody's PERFECT gig?
Btw, the best gig i was at was Frenzal Rhomb at the Cathouse, INTENSE!

I pre-ordered that foo album :)
best gig ever, cole? That's gonna be Goldfinger and 'A' this November !!!
I bet you can't wait to see A ;)
Hey LANcaster, my sons were at the Nickelback gig as well. They thought the support act sucked!!!
Course, the swine wouldn't let me go to see it as well :(
I got my revenge though, they like quite a lot of the "old" rock bands so I got some bragging rights having seen:
Led Zeppelin
The Who
Free
Deep Purple
Santana
Peter Frampton
Derek and the Dominos
Rare Bird
Cream
The Stones
The Eagles
etc., etc.
Sounds like my home....!16 year old has started to go to gigs with school friends...think Badly Drawn Boy(does that sound right to anyone?) is next at the Barrowlands....wont let me/us go too ;) we introduced her to Parkhead and Wet wet wet etc....she loved the atmosphere.......now......we have to listen to her tales......of the expected!!!And listen to the cds etc at home! Gosh Santana, Led Zepplin,Cream, good old Derek and the Dominoes...alias Clapton...brings back lots of happy memories of gigs in the past!!

I've got Badly Drawn Boys last album - it's a bit weird, but has it's moments ! Their videos are really good I must say !
Don't think they'll be my cup of tea then...if they r a bit weird!!So...I don't mind giving the Barrowland a miss in Nov. now!! :D :D
Oh aye Graeme i just CANNOT WAIT to throw a pint of beer at A!!
at the best gig of my life was a local1! but was at the club we all go to where its live music bands play i only tend to go when a certain band play... so i went for just over 12 hours! and i managed to have 1 band dedicate a song to me, the singer from my fave band borrow a guitar off the band that played before them and get the drummer to stay on stage and they played and dedicated a song specially for me (just the singer and drummer!) then cuz i skanked so fantastically in my drunken state i have been asked to be the skanking santa at the christmas do at another venue! then i got to hang out wae the bands! :) made it the best gig ever! loadsa love sazzyxxx :D :D :D :D
