Hey guys,

I have just about completed a new HTPC setup, however I have run into a major stumbling block with Media Center 2005.

I can not for the life of me get it to tune to my TV channels.

MY setup is a bit odd, I have a cable box (Wightcable/Omne provided, its a PACE 1000) downstairs hooked up to my main TV and then have the feed coming out of the back of the box split, 1 runs to the TV and the other runs upstairs to a booster in the loft and is then split down to 3 TV's and the HTPC.

I managed to get it to just tune every analog TV frequency and in places I do get a partial picture however the problem is that it doesn't match up with the EPG and is very naff quality.

Is there anyway of manually tuning either within MCE or using XML files? Already have the frequency numbers for the channels which need hooked in (BBC 1, 2, ITV1, ITV2, C4, Five, The cable channel itself for the box feed, Skyone and an extra channel which rotates every few weeks)

Thanks,

Stew

Ps: does the remote sold on this site work with MCE2005?

Good to hear about the remote.

I'll get the tuning issue sorted first, doing my head in at the moment.

Edit: Right got the tuning issue sorted, just gotta figure out how to get the EPG to attach to those new channels... does Roll Up 2 allow this as I know there is an option some where but I can't find it in any menu.

Okay guys I have the solution for everyone in the UK in this sort of situation, spent a few hours after coming back from Kustom after buying the MCE remote (thanks for the quick service Graeme!)

If you have already done the setup you need to go back into Settings > TV > Setup TV Signal.

Pick the UK as your country, hit next

Choose to setup manually

Pick Analog, then Analog Terrestrial

Enter your postcode then let it download the service list for your area

Pick the first one > "Analog Unampped Lineup"

Let it download then hit next and hit Scan for Services

It will now scan your signal for any channels regardless of frequency.

You will get a list in the box which looks similar to: Unknown (6719187500Hz)

Simply hit next once it has finished and then go back to Settings > Tv > Guide and hit "Add Listing to Channels"

If you hover over the tick with your mouse you can check what is shown on that channel and if you have a TV around you should double check that its the right channel, click on the Unknown (xxxxxxhz) and find the channel in the list, you have to make sure you get the right region otherwise any variations (and there are LOADS) will not be shown for the signal you get.

Once you have been through your list you will probably have a few channels which you can't get a listing for. For instance my signal actually carries my STB, and 3 other channels as well (Sky One, ITV2 and TCM) you can NOT give these channels listings unfortunately. This is because Microsoft (in their infinite wisdom) have blocked us from mapping any listing we want to any channel, this is a big mistake for those of us who know what we are doing as the setup I have is getting more and more common.

Anyway that should be you all sorted now, enjoy!
