Based on a thread I read a while back (See link) I purchased the AverMedia QuickPlay VGA to TV converter.

http://forums.kustompcs.co.uk/showthread.php?t=33934

It plugs into the VGA port of my laptop and enables me to watch DVD's on the TV. But there's a problem. When I play DVD's like this the refresh rate seems really low. The picture is rather jerky and gives me chronic eye strain to watch movies for any length of time. It doesn't flicker as such, it just seems like it's running at about 15 FPS so is hard for the eye to follow as video.

Do you think this is a fault in my setup or do all cheap VGA-TV converters do this. My main PC has a TV out on the 7800 and that seems fine when connected to the TV. Should I try anything to make it better. I've tried the two resolutions it supports (800*600 & 1024*768) and have treid setting the output to various refresh rates. On higher refresh rates such as 100Hz it exhibits bad tearing similar to games when vSync is turned off.

Any ideas or am I destined not to be able to connect my laptop to my TV?
