View Full Version : Graphics Card
Ok I currently have a 6800gt running in my htpc but I feel it's a bit of a waste and its just adding extra heat and noise to the system and not really doing much. Im planning on selling the card and buying something a little cheaper and less over the top. Can anyone reccomend something, I'm planning on buying an LCD tv after christmas and my box will be connected wto that so I have to consider that also when choosing a card.

If all you want to do is watch videos on the thing, pretty much the cheapest GFX card you can find will be more than up to the task. If you're looking to use HD content somewhere down the line, you'll want a fairly newish-generation card like an nVidia 5200.
Would this (http://www.gainward.com/html/product/vga/fx/5200/660tvdvi-low.htm)do the job ok

From a 6800GT, to a lowly FX5200! Now that really is the opposite ends of the scale
But yeah... that card you've linked to should be fine if the most you're gonna be using it for is playing/watching movies ;)
And erm... whatchya doin' wi' the 6800GT? :D

Lol yer well seemed a bit of a waste with a 6800GT in there when all im using it for is watching tv, dvd's and listening to music. The only reason I used it in the first place was because it was a spare and I was having problems with the graphics card in my main PC at the time and didn't wanna get rid of that.
