Even if the game runs it will probably be pointless playing as without all the lighting effects etc. the game will not be scary or even have any atmosfear.

However your best bet is to download the demo and try that.

If you have already bought it why dont you install it and find out!

It should work, the RAM is the most important thing and it runs on my 512mb just fine (on looow specs of course)

Minimum Requirements:
Windows XP/2000 (Win 64 supported)
DirectX 9.0c (on disk)
P4 1.7GHz or equivalent
512MB RAM
64MB GeForce 4 Ti or Radeon 9000
5GB hard drive space

So even minimum settings you'll be pushing it! What people are saying though is because you are likely to have to run settings very low you are not going to get the best outta the game!

just because you can run 1 or 2 games that are "sub-recent" doesn't mean that fear will run?!
it's a COMPLETELY new engine.. developed by the ever getting better monolith..
it WILL NOT run ANYTHING like it should on that setup, infact im VERY surprised d3 is even playable.. and i imagine it looks terrible.. and i should think hl2 looks like the old half life gold engine due to ur card running it at Direct x 7
this game is at the VERY lowest direct x 8.. it can be forced onto it..
but instead of asking.. since you've already bought it.. install it.. and try it? and tell US if it works?! wouldn't that be more logical than asking us, who don't have that setup, and if we did we wouldn't have gone out and bought the latest games such as fear to test it out..
and for christ sake READ THE POSTS we write before gettin all ancy about something you've obviously got the **** end of and taken completely the wrong way?

It's absolutely crazy to expect F.E.A.R to run on a system with an old, underpowered, GF4 MX in it

i know your feelings mate thankfully i have a better card now i have 6600 it isnt the best but it runs preety much any game on medium detail level i also have a geforce mx440 64mb ill stick it in and tell you if it runs you can see my specs at bottom but ill tell you if i can run it. I have a 5600xt for sale i dont know what i should price it but it is a 256mb one and can run battlefield pretty fast on low detail which is fun cos i know only a few gfx cards are supported.

The expression 'like pulling teeth' comes to mind!

Choas: If it's any consolation, many of us are in the same boat!

As much as I love to sing the praises of old hardware & getting more life out of it, hell up until recently I ran a P4 1.7!

Unfortunately though, as many others have said, F.E.A.R. is one serious hog on system requirements, and if your rig isn't a real bruiser your going to have to turn the settings down so low, it'll be like playing the original Doom.

Thread closed, it started as drivel yet somehow managed to go even further downhill into complete and utter drivel.

No more please!
