have you made a complete tit of yourself playing a game??
last night im playing F.E.A.R for the first time, sat in the dark, headphones on, missus is sat on the sofa watching TV, and i get to the bit where you are sent alone to scout the rest of the surrounding rooms, i get up onto the roof, walk round the side of a peice of scenery and WHAM that evil bar-steward slams me in the head with a plank of wood, cue me completely cacking myself.
my missus is totally wetting herself on the sofa, and i feel completely stupid-oopid.
this ever happen to you??

See G, this is why I have a dedicated room to game in. :D I just did exactly the same thing at exactly the same spot in F.E.A.R. as you did.

Hahaha i didn't because i had the settings too high and it was reli laggy, so i saw him jump at like 1 fps.....lol not very scary then :D
i had the settings all up anyway.. and i got to the exact same bit.. missus in tow to my left just to look at things.. surround sound pumped up and yes.. i yelled, she screamed, pretty much jumped into my lap.. speakers went flying.. it was mad.. but SO satisfying.. this game has me truly on edge! it's nice that the sp demo bits are like.. NOTHING like in the actualy game so it's pretty relentless when it comes to scaring the living **** out of you.... i'm SO emmersed in the japenese style horror of this game.. it's fantastic..
and the A.I. ! i mean cmon! you need a good 5+ health packs per fire fight if you want to make it.. and don't think you'll do it WITHOUT slowmo cuz you'll fail.. i can't WAIT to try it on hard..
i can't get over how they duck and dodge you firing and stuff.. you can't like shoot one, sweep to the other like in other games.. you REALLY have to concentrate on it tactically.. like bounce nade here.. then pop a shot off to get em comin at you then boom giblets!! lol it's fantastic i'm gona be playing this all night and it looks so beautiful cranked up :(
however.. even after patching, and getting the drivers someone mentioned.. it still didn't render soft shadows on my 7800 properly :( but considering they frame rate loss i think i'll leave em for now.. it looks so fantastic :D
sorry i rambled a bit there but it's so addictive.. i can't friggin wait to get fighting those thermo-optically camoflaged dudes(they so nicked that from ghost in the shell) they looked very impressive in the movies :D

Has some ridiculously fast rate of fire, it's kinda like a frag grenade on impact, those dudes in the power armor still take some poundin' with it though!

Wheres the cheapest place for this game as i really want it. And as stupid as it sounds i done the same with doom. I used to do it with tomb raider back in 1996 or when ever. So if i was born 1988 you work out the maths lol.

i remember the first time i played half life.. i was cackin myself! now it's like.. a walk in the park lol..
actually i tell you the best game for jumps.. Aliens Versus Predator... the first one on pc :D the EAX on that was superb...
then there's AVP2 which was made by the same guys who've just done fear.. and it shows... those monolith chaps know how to get you into a game..
i think the first time i played avp in co-op mode on (map i can't remember) and an alien just JUMPED at me.. i litterally screamed.. mind you i was about 12 lol.. but they were the days!

Oh anyone remember "Aliens V Predator" on the Atari Jaguar?? (Going back a bit here guys!!) that had a few Pany filling moment, erry background noise didn't help. A lot of very quiet whispering of "Over here" from the Predators in the game when they were stalking you....
ahhhh AVP, nasty little game that was, them blooody facehuggers, god when one of them got me, i had to switch it off and calm down for an hour....

Doom 3 made me fart.
I was playing with my mum (of all people) and suddenly I opened a door and an imp jumped and bitch slapped me!!!. Well I was so scared and shocked that I just farted. Mum laughed at me and walked away shaking her head.
I had to stop playing straight away, fearing the possible follow through.... :eek:
edit: the first sentence sounds really bad but I was playing Doom 3 and my mum was watching...

Well before today I thought "you bunch of pansies". As all though FEAR is scary I never really jumped.
However when this guy got thrown through some glass walls in front of me and then something run past I really jumped. Im pleased there where no small children in the vicinity as I swore a lot.
Oh yea found out who ran past and he made me jump and swear again.
This game is just amazing :cool:

i jumped at the EXACT point.. i ****ing **** myself.. i turned it off for 5 minutes and calmed down.. i think i spun round ingame about 4 times and swore more in those 5 minutes than i have all month!....
you wait till you get to the end!! OMG jap horror or what?! LOVED IT!

I did not spin round but i did lift my hands away from the keyboard and mouse and push my seat back.
I tried to keep playing after the guy being thrown but when the thing that run past jumped off the wall at me I had to quit the game. Will continue playing tomorrow.

anyway ive not played for a few days, football manager 2006 has arrived, so thats me in hibernation for a good 6 months.....

Completed FEAR last night, made me jump in a few spots - I wont ruin any of the game but i'll just say the part where you turn around to go down a ladder.. that made me jump a mile. (you'll know what I mean when you get there, if you haven't already).
Started Quake4 but it's a bit to Doom3 for me, I'll stick to Multiplayer i think.

That girl terrifies me, you watched the bonus features on the DVD yet, nice little pre-quel movie on there about that girl.

lol it's the fact they do it at a point where u can do F'all about it.. once u hit use to go down the ladder.. that's it lol.. and then the bit after!!!! i mean CMON! gimme a break lol..
i loved the way they ended it.. it was VERY impressive graphically, aswell as scary, creepy, and VERY well finished.. :) can't wait for the next one :D actually i hope monolith bring out AVP3 on that engine.. now THAT would be impressive..

I just finished F.E.A.R., and I have to be honest, I was a little disappointed. :(
After being smashed in the head with a 2x4 at the start, it all seemed pretty tame after that.
Just got Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines, well three days ago, finished it this morning. Now that was excellent, graphical glitches aside.

Gotta figure that out before I continue... :( The game is good so far though, mighty weird at times too...can't wait for the end!

The end was the only part in the game that actualy scared me, but to be fair i had it on looow settings and not very loud sound.... but those things at the end!!!!! :eek: :eek: :eek:

Mine randomly restarted my PC everynow and then but then it just seemed to stop restarting and it ran fine, I put it down to graphics drivers.

Can anyone tell me at the very end when your in the helicopter what is that bang, like the chopper's gonna crash and then it rolls to the credits? Whats that all about?
I need to play this game again, only criticism is i completed it in about 12 hours. (was playing on "moderate difficulty")
The first time I played System Shock 2 I had so many heart attacks I'm surprised I'm still here.

Looking at your sig I am guessing that you overclock. This is probably your problem as apparently FEAR is very sensitive to overclocked systems. You may want to set your graphics card and CPU to default and see if it still crashes.

Well, right after I posted the level loaded fine, and when I got to the part where the guy is thrown thru the glass, oh man! I jumped sky high. Oh yeah, those assasin guys or whatever they are freaked me out the first time I saw them too. I'm not scared of Alma anymore though, just kinda feel "special" when I see her. As for overclocking, I wasn't overclocked when I that happened. I just think my CPU got a bit hot seeing as I didn't have my fans up all the way. My CPU idles at 34-35 with the fans up, loaded about 40, so I'm guessing it was either a bit warm or that my PC just needed a restart.

Ahh SS2! My fave game of all time.
Had my Psi-Invisibility feat on once, walked around a bulkhead only to run straight into a red assassin...literally fell off my chair at that point.
I think F.E.A.R. took a lot of its tips from System Shock 2, in particular the voice logs of the crew, just changed it to laptops in F.E.A.R. Does give a nice touch, lets you see further into the game than it would otherwise allow.
Still, I would've liked to see more story in F.E.A.R. and less pointless all out firefights.
And why is everyone saying the wraiths at the end are scary? :confused: Ok when I played the demo first time 'round I nearly pooped my pants when Alma appeared when I was going down the ladder...then Paxton suddenly *poof* when you turned around...I the only one who unloaded at least two rounds at a ghost?
But after the demo, then the skull bashing of the 2x4, I still think you start to expect something weird, then it takes the edge off it a fair bit. Mind you, the bit where Paxton is walking down a hall (viewing him from security cam) then Alma suddenly peers back from the monitor at you, that was pretty unnerving.

Nope, I did the same, and then realized it was a ghost, not a real person you can kill. I was dissapointed cuz I didn't get the major blood cloud like you do in other close quarters battles.... :D What can I say? I like my good-looking gore!
yeah man, i unloaded a ****eload of ammo at her, all i got was plasterboard and dust flying off the walls....
