Hi there. I am having a problem playing far cry on any other setting than low. Basically if the video options are set any higher a level starts to load then it stops and im returned to my desktop. Can anyone help explain whats going on here? I have a 6600gt card, athlon 3000+ running at 2ghz, asus nforce4 ultra motherboard. Surely i should be able to play at higher settings than low with these specs? Am i right in this assumption?

I was thinking it may be because i need a graphics driver update? Im new to pc gaming and so am unsure as to how to do this? Iv gone to the driver download link on nvidias site but cant seem to get any further than the agreement page (i.e I click on agree yet no download starts). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to enjoy this games graphics as i have heard they are immense. Cheers

have you updated far cry?
maybe theres a compat issue with the 66's since they were out after it..
turbocache and all that malarky

right go to nvidia amd download the drivers..use the primary download and just sit and wait for a minute (another window should appear with adverts, after this you'll get the download). get the latest 78.01 driver.

still cant - go and get a magazine, it'll be on there (on the CD).

Far Cry is patched to 1.33 at the moment and so its best to go to linky (http://www.ubi.com/US/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=691) and get them from there.

MAKE SURE YOU GET 1.31 FIRST AND THEN GET 1.33 !!!

Also make sure any MSN type programs arent running and close all non essentials. also give your PC a scan with an anti virus and a spyware program. again all this is free on a PC gamer magazine.

dont expect amazing settings from what you currently have but I used to have a similar rig and I could certainly get all medium settings with no worries.

Because 1.33 doesnt have the same files as 1.31, so get 1.31 first and then 1.33... you can read about it on there website.

I tried 1.33 first and it wouldn't run, 1.31 and then 1.33 and it would. 1.32 has the same files as 1.33 and thats why you can skip it when going from 1.31 to 1.33.

lol i can't remember which way round i did it, but i know it runs with hdr :)
