i have just got a new pc and thought i would give far cry another go with this hdr business.
switched it on and all my graphics went transparant,searched the net and found you need to turn AA off,did this and got pink stripes at the bottom of the screen!another search revealed that u need to change some stuff in your reg,did that and now its just slow!
even if i turn the settings from 'very high' to 'high' its still poor,any ideas?or is this usual?

just dont tell me i need to upgrade ok???? :eek:

What are your PC specs and have you tried updating your graphics drivers?

MESH P.C. with ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo,AMD 3800 x2,Leadtech 7800gt,1 gig ram,Maxtor 300gig hdd all in a Cooler Master Praetorian 732 case.

The latest official [WHQL] nVida Forceware drivers are actually v81.84 (ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/81.84/) ;)

I don't know why nVidia haven't updated their main site with the newer drivers yet... but you should at least try those new ones, to see if they help?

yeah not an official release yet. although they did release the latest beta as soon as ATI announced *ahem* released its latest gen cards.

78.01 is the latest drivers, although if your happy to mess around with drivers you may as well try them and see if it works. be warned though that there some problems with the beta drivers...check Nvidia (http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_rel70betadriver.html) for more details.

smooth as silk. 78.01 no problems - just tried it now because of the problems mentioned up top. set the HDR for each map, but its good once you get the settings right.

what do u mean by 'seting up the hdr for each map?' what else should i be fiddling with?

gota tweak a few things to make it work lol without the screw up but hell it's worthit

(yo, fireblade, I have sigs switched off ;) got sick of seeing too many huge/distracting sigs)

Surely you shouldn't have to tweak settings to get the basic game working right?

its the whole HDR issue with the 78's... doesn't work with AA on or something..

yeah , u cant run hdr with AA on.
but also depending on hardware , it screws up with 1280x1024 res with all settings at very high too.you have to fiddle to get round that , but i am still not happy with performance.
i think with the specs of my pc it should run it well but its rubbish , will have to try these beta drivers i guess!
