Anyone else pre-loading or pre-ordering Day of Defeat Source?
I want to but they don't take Solo cards :(
Yea i think i will though im still unsure on the release date any idea ?All i know is sometime this month.

i'll pre-load and if i can get hold of someone with the right card i'll probably order it.. i'm still VERY mad that it didn't come witht he collectors edition of HL2.. i'm a little per-plexed that they are releasing it with HDR, even before lost coast is out.. which doesn't make alot of sense to me :S but meh, i deffinately want to try it, for $19.95.. it's not THAT expensive.. but it should DEFFINATELY have come with hl2 collectors edition :(
a little annoying it's only downloading at 0.5Mbp/s they patched steam to make it download faster.. crying out loud!
I have downloaded it ready to play and Steam is saying that it came with the package I originally bought which I think was the Bronze one. Sorted!! :D

I hit pre-load and within 2 seconds it had gone up to 80% :-/

Did the same with me. So yes im pre-loading it now and will buy it soon. But i think $20 is a bit much, but il still buy it - DoD is begining to hurt my eyes :D

I disagree. It's a professional expansion pack which took Valve a long time to complete. £10 is a perfectly acceptable asking price, I think.
In any case, I have it included in my Silver so I'll preload it tonight. Looking forward to this!

its not really a mod or expansion pack any more though
its a game in itself that uses the source engine.
i was annoyed that it didnt come with the collectors edition - but suppose should have done a bit more research at the time - CE = vivendi, DOD = activision :(
o well - as you say £10 aint much.
as for the 80% in seconds thing
its prob due to the fact that you already have a lot of the game if you have HL2 installed - ie the engine and stuff

Yeh, after hitting 80% mine took about 30mins from there
80% of the game is the hl2 engine etc... i can access the gcf file, see all the shizzle in it.. looks like some cool stuff in there, shame it's all encrypted :( lol... need to get hold of someone with the right card to get it for me.. considering it's got HDR and stuff.. would be nice :)
All done, waiting to unlock :D

I'm Decrypting..
Just gave it a whirl. Was a bit laggy (as new multiplayer releases invariably are) but I could tell it's going to be a real gem. The new HDR lighting looks fantastic, and the sound effects, models and gameplay are all top notch.
Looking forward to playing this properly when the servers sort themselves out. :)
Excellent game :D Getting into a server is kinda long mind... :rolleyes:

Played it and yep: got pwned as I'm a total DoD nub. Bet hey ;)
Got a few kills in. It'll take a while to learn all maps: they're big
FPS was good (but then the 7800GTX pwns ;)), about 80-100+FPS :D

holy **** that HDR looks the dogs! get some demo's record and frappsed so us less credit card furtunate can look.. (yes i STILL hate valve)
i bought the off-the-shelf HL2, and you don't get it free.
I'm not paying a tenner for a mod thats been made to look a bit nicer by sticking some HDR on... not that i'll notice cos i have an ATi card :mad:

your aware they have completely re-modelled the maps and player models and weapons and thing? not JUST put HDR on it? i think the fact they have released it on DOD:S is kinda Valve trying to make another wuick buck instead of releasing it on the Lost Coast first... like they got a quick boost in sales of CS:CZ when they released a free CSS demo with anyone who bought it, which basically cleared most of the retailer's back shelves of CZ stock. This makes the people who didn't buy the packages available from Steam lose out, yet again... I Bought the collectors edition boxed set thinking i might get a bit better deal than just the hl2 and css in the HL2 normal box... NOW they are releasing css in a box with dod s in it.. but i suppose thats vivendi trying to get their leg in the door and actualyl get a bit more profit than they did with the initial release of HL2 because of the amount they missed out on when it was released through steam.
I might get it because i do enjoy DOD and seeing it on the source engine i think would greatly improve the experience, i think it will deffinately improve the overall effect and emmersiveness of the game having HDR. Then again the fact that they have included teh HDR option in HL2, CSS and the likes... makes you kind wonder whats going on there? i mean i'm guessing if you knew what you were doing you could add HDR to the CSS maps? Blooming is there as "an option" at last, but you could already use most of the post processing options with gary's mod which was quite good too look at but the main part of that was the blooming and overlays.. not full HDR, but i doubt it will be long before he opens up the HDR option so we can play with it in Gary's as we have been playing with blooming.. hope that doesn't take too long.

love this game!!!
HDR is awesome, the sounds effects are amazing (think MG at a distance) and the level re-design is spot on for evening up the game.
theres a few snags - lag, odd-object contact, no Carbine :( and long loading times.
Fav map has to be avalanche - can use all the classes to maximum effect and like all the maps theres more than one way to the flags. lovely.
I was quite impressed with how they designed the actual levels themselves, seemed to be spot on and giving a real sense of combat even with only 4 v 4...love this game.
