I bought System Mechanic and installed it. It came with a virus protector and firewall but unknowing, i installed it anyway even though i had McAfee. So, then, i restarted my computer to activate it but what happened was that after the comp booted up, it was working fine until the Kaspersky (virus, firewall) icon popped up on my system taskbar (where it shows the running applications). When it appeared, i could still move my cursor but i couldnt open or continue anything. I have roughly 6 seconds to do stuff before the Kaspersky icon comes up and stops my comp. Im asking for any help to get rid of Kaspersky and system mechanic. I tried uninstalling but after my 6 secs, even my uninstallation freezes up! So im asking is there any way to close all items that will be on the taskbar while still being able to utilize my comp? As in a way i can get rid of the kaspersky icon on my system tray in less than 6 seconds? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Go into safe mode and then go to control panel>add/remove programs. Uninstall the proggie. If that don't work...then go into safe mode and type: "msconfig" at start>run. Then go into startup programs and untick the prog so windows doesn't start it automatically.

For safe mode: F8 just after POST...basically bash F8 till you get the advanced startup options :)

Good luck... :p

I also have a little application that will kill kaspersky (ie Reg kill it), its an official kaspersky release - we used to use KAV for our clients until we got fed up off its crappy interface, although i hear the latest version has a revamped one.

anyway - its needs to be run from within Windows, so if u want it, let me know ;)

good luck

OMG!! Kempez, thank you SO much!!! You saved my comp, my sainty, my time, and probably hundreds of dollars to pay a professional to have him tell me something was wrong with my RAM and that i need to have it replaced and he'll sell me one for only 500$. Thank you so much, now idont have to keep on typing on this crappy comp with 64m memory, 20 gig hd and keep going on my new one! Once again, thank you, now i see that my 2 weeks of trying wasnt good enough.

Thanks don but i fixed it now thanks to kempez. Thanks for the thought of helping me though!
