Neon String Inverters

I notice in the info for the Inverters, you say:
This inverter is capable of powering up to 5 metres of EL Wire, without making too much noise !
Can you define "too much noise" for me please. I've heard that some inverters make a high pitch whine when in use. Is this what you're reffering too?

yes, they whine a little - seem to be quietest with about 3 metres of string. with short lengths (~1m) they make more noise. We are going to try other inverters to find one that possibly suits short lengths of string a little better
