Does anybody know about the error in Win XP Home that stops RA2 playing and installing because of a .exe error?
When you start the game, the screen goes blank and then returns to the desktop with the error message.
It used to work fine on my pc and then suddenly stopped, also two friends have the same problem with their new Dell PCs. It is a shame because it's a LAN classic.
So anybody got any ideas how to fix it?

Possibly try running the game in compability mode. Right click the .exe and select properties then click the compability tab and set the version of windows to 98 or 2000. I know some people who have done the same to solve problems they were having with some older games.

I used the compatibility settings to allow the game to run originally when it was first installed, but now they make no difference.
The error seems to be spreading; as yet another friends computer refused to play the game for the same reason at a LAN on Monday. It must be windows update related or something. Thanks anyway dudes
