BREAKING NEWS.....

TV presenter Richard Whiteley has died in hospital from a heart operation.

The star of Countdown, aged 61, underwent the surgery to combat an infection that attacked a valve in his heart.

He was taken into hospital in Leeds last month suffering from pneumonia.

Whiteley had been the host of Countdown since it began more than 20 years ago.

He was the first face on Channel 4 when the station launched in 1982.

I heard a few weeks ago he had pneumonia but was on the mend, very sad, hopefully channel 4 will pull countdown as its pre-recorded and he's still on it.

It was a shock.Especially as it seemed so unexpected...he looked so well too.

Who do you reckon they'll get to replace him....I bet they've had someone lined up for months.

To be honest i wouldnt even start thinking of who would replace him. I would just focus on the loss that we have. R.I.P RW.

His trademarks were his terrible ties and his awful jokes-

E.g.1 The inventor of the door knocker has just been awarded the "No-bell Prize"

E.g.2 If a psychic of below-average height was arrested but then escaped from jail; would the headlines read "Small Medium at Large"?

Well - they made me laugh lol.

Suppose a lot of you have already heard some of the usual "Death of a famous person jokes" I found some of them quite amusing as they didn't really insult.

1) RW funeral has been arranged it's on DEWNDYAES

Quite a good one in my opinion, light hearted :)
