My geforce fx5200 stock settings are 250core/350memory. When I was new to any type of overclocking I put this up to 300/400 with the only cooling being the stock fan. I played Halo and all the textures went messed up. I very quickly put it back down. Ok no problem since. I have since played half life 2 on medium settings with no problems which should be a sign that in that moment of overcloking stupidty I did not cause definate damage to my graphics card. But I, being of the Obsessive Compulsive thinking just could not get out of my head the fact that I may have "slightly ruined my card permenently. Should I run 3d mark 2001 again and see whether my score has gone down? Or can you just say whether in your experience what damge to a card extreme overcloking does and whether(even if corrected quickly) it causes ultimate and lasting damage.

yo
dont worry m8 you aint wrecked your card, the fx5200 is sh*t for overclocking. what you saw were lots of artifacts cause you pushed the card to far. graphics cards can take a fair amount of abuse before they go so you are safe. I used to have that card you see so i know what you were seeing. Its all good ;)

Peace Out :D

I agree, you didn't kill it, but you were seeing artifacts from OC'in a bit too far. If you lowered your clocks right away, there should be no permament damage. I wouldn't worry about it if I was you.
