How long does Xp take to boot up on your system?
I have Xp Pro Athlon XP1800, 256ddr, Asus A7v22e mobo. It takes 1min 30 seconds at least to boot.
Can anyone tell me how to speed this up and I have already tried bootvis no noticeable improvement.

Stumpy i had the same problem but there is a way to get around it. ok this is a few simple steps that should help speed up the boot time of your xp.

1) goto Device Manager - right click My Computer => properties => Hardware tab => Device Manager.

2) now click IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers

3) clic the advanced settings tab in Primary IDE Channel properties.

4) Device 0 will have transfer Mode set to "DMA if avalable" and the Device type is configured to Auto Detection, there both ok.
Now Device 1 settings should have Device type set to "None". if not you should set it to "None" :)

Done! reboot, enjoy the fast bootup time ;p
any probs post here..

forgot to mention you want to disable as many unnecessary start up services as possible. theres a good faq for this floating about somewhere, ill update as soon as i find it again(too many favourites!)

Heres an idea, try using hibernate, much quicker to boot than normal booting. Plus no loggin in and everything is already open.

BootVis can dramically decrease your boot times - get it from the microsoft site

Click Start, Run, type in MSCONFIG and enter
check the startup tab to see whats loading, you can untick them to see if any are causing your slow boot
