The 50Z-DC12 is effectively a rebadged Swiftech MCP600 isn't it? If so, it's supposed to be a wee beastie. Very powerful yet very quiet.

If got the Swiftech MCP650 in the 'bling' Polarflo version but still haven't got around to connecting it up. :(

I've got a feeling it's probably marginally louder than your current Eheim (having said that, just about anything except a 1048, 1046 or at a pinch a MCP350 will be louder than your current Eheim). The difference should be pretty small though - in absolute terms pumps are pretty quiet and will often be drowned out by other components.

Guys i just started this pump up to get the air out of my loop and the pump is bloody noisy! Way more than the "80mm fan" noise its supposed to be like. Do you think i have a faulty pump?

EDIT: unscrewed it from the case and ran it with me holding it. It is now much quieter... i obviously hadnt isolated it enough!

Use the big bit of foam and it will be ok,also make sure you prime the pump before you use it.

Used the foam - its still vibrates like a beast! But the noise level has gone considerably since unscrewing it so it must have been in part to vibration. What do you mean prime?

In response to Rob-Ti (i had thought Kustom sell it as the thread was here... just checked - they dont) just google the name and you will find other shops.

To prime the pump you must fill it up with water before you start to fill the rest of the system,if you dont it will rattle and will not work right.

I fitted these to my pump as well, and i cant hear it at all,my case side is open as well.

Comprises 4x SoftRubber buffered double-M4 threaded parts with washers and nuts. Drill 4 holes in case base, mount the Antivibes, washer and nut from behind. Sit pump on top, washer and nut... done! Quick n' Easy!
They come in a pack of 4 but you only need 2 for this pump.

If you said you got the 'newer' one, then that is the D5 that is relatively new as opposed to the D4 (pictured with the Polar Flo casing).

The older D4 makes a racket... very loud and whiney. I have 2 :(

The new one is supposed to be significantly quieter, and you testimony is very reassuring as am ditching my current D4's and getting a D5! :)
