View Full Version : help! speedfan & sandra report one sensor @ 127C

Hi, I'm really puzzled by this one.

I have an akasa eclipse 62, two 1200 120mm fans (properly set up as intake/exhaust), and an ASUS P5ND2-SLI deluxe mobo w/ intel p4 3ghz, stock heatsink.

For some reason speedfan AND sandra display 5 temp sensors:
1- cpu : 35 idle, 52 under load
2- mobo: 34 idle, 36 under load
3- mysterious 'temp3', 127celcius, contant
4- hd0 (smart) averaging 27
5- mysterious 'acpi' temp 1 , stuck at 40

Now obviously I can tell both #3 and #5 are invalid readings, but if the thermo probes didn't exist, why would both applications report them?

Finally, just for my information, do you guys think the other temperature sound 'right' as well? (I have no idea what to expect)

Cheers,

Steve.

I certainly would keep an eye on the CPU load temp - much over that (near 60) & I would start to sweat. The mobo temp suggests poor airflow in the case.

Thanks for your reply...

This 127celcius temp is driving me bonkers. I've noticed that If i used speedfan to change the speed of the 'third fan' (probably cha_fan1, my exhaust), down to 76%, the temp goes down to 20c. It's obviously a bug.

I'm quite upset that even the asus probe won't pick up my cha_fan1 and cha_fan2 properly. As for the 'fantom' temp probes, it's downright criminal to make people pay 150 quids for a mobo that doesn't even have proper monitoring software yet. [/rant]

Is this common?

jnm21, to check the airflow I've just open the case and placed a massive 20inch fan in front of it. The new temperatures:
1)idle, both cpu and mobo at 30
2) under load, 43cpu/33 mobo

Cheers,

Steve

that 127 temp is likely to be a null temp, bcos if i remember rightly since it wont need to go above 127 it will be a 7 bit output, 128 different possibilities thus 0 to 127, and since there is no "real" output it will just null to 127. i wouldn't worry too much tbh

Yeah, ignore the 127°. I've got one of those. :)

As for the mobo temp it depends on where the sensor is, for example, mine is ~22°C but it is case temp.

You need to look at the manual and see where the sensors are located.
